  • Costs:

    • Payment is due to secure your space before the month begins.

    • Firing fees, clay, and materials are not included at the base cost of $190 per month.

    • Please purchase Student Credit to fill your firing and materials log for clay, tools, and firing fees.

  • Studio:

    • Studio time is by appointment only.

    • Artists will have access to cone 10 glazes and studio firings.

    • There will be limited access to cone 6 firings.

    • You will have a shelf in the Independent Study studio along with access to work in-progress shelving.

  • Scheduling: Independent Study artists must reserve time(s) to come into the studio.

  • Applying: The Independent Study program waitlist is currently closed.

    • Qualifications - Interested applicants must have taken at least five Clay Art Center weekly classes (or equivalent experience) to be eligible for Independent Study, be approved by the Program Management team, AND must be willing to sign a detailed agreement. Independent Study is a monthly commitment. If interested, please email mail@clayartcenter.org with a summary on your clay experience and two photos of your work. Applicants may be asked for a ceramic-related reference.

Scheduling

Independent Study students must book an appointment to work in the studio!

  • You may schedule multiple one hour blocks any day between 9AM-9PM. If a particular time slot is full, it will not appear on the scheduler. Book up to 5 hours a day.

  • Use our online scheduler on this page to select your day and time.

  • Please do not come in outside of these time slots. IS students without an appointment will be refused access if they drop by onsite

  • Independent Study students receive a main classroom access code to enter the building when there is no staff or classes scheduled.
