Join us for a special Meet the Artist Event on Monday, October 3rd from 6.30 - 8.00pm.

Clay Art Center Artist Susan Wortman presents 50 pieces from her “Winged Women” series. After a breast cancer diagnosis Susan began this series of hand-built porcelain sculptures to heal from the cancer experience and adjust to a mastectomy with reconstruction. Representing brave warriors, health, strength, and hope, this selection of 50 small porcelain reflect the diversity and beauty of our imperfect bodies. Each sculpture is unique.

Fifty percent (50%) of the sale of each work of art will be donated to Cancer Support Team, a Westchester based non-profit organization that provides social work, nursing and in-home services to cancer patients and their families.

Susan Wortman Artist Bio

Susan Wortman is an Artist Member of Clay Art Center as well as the Hudson River Potters. She has been working in clay for over 30 years. She states, “Clay moves me. I respond to it and it responds to my slightest touch. With it, I push, pound, throw, stretch, roll and gently smooth its surface. From it, I create objects that are functional and sculptural.” Visit her artist page in our online Shop here.
