Artists in Residence Exhibition Opening Reception

We held our first in person opening reception in 16 months on June 30 for our Artists in Residence exhibition where we celebrated the artistic achievements of our current residents, Austin Coudriet and Maria Spiess and our 2019-20 resident James Lee Webb. More than 100 people came out in the 100° weather to enjoy beer from our future neighbors at Run and Hide Brewery while chatting with new and old friends. Attendees were given a respite from the heat in the galleries where they could view the concurrent solo exhibitions. We encourage you to come and visit the gallery through August 6 or view the exhibitions online.

Reupholstering the Fabric of Old Stories

All three artists use clay to explore themes around time, memory and transitions, but they interpret these themes in drastically different ways by playing with sculptural and functional forms to tell their own stories. Over this past tumultuous year, our artists in residence have experienced significant transitions and moved their lives. Because of these changes, they hold onto past memories while looking forward to an altered but promising future. After the past year and a half, we can all relate to these themes.

Thank you to our sponsors Justworks, Amaco, Harney & Sons, Skutt and Run & Hide Brewery.

Visit us in person in the gallery and the shop with no appointment necessary.
